A year ago this morning, The love of my life, my best friend, and that big, important piece of me that is still currently missing entered into the majesty of heaven…I know that Ashleigh is absolutely loving being able to hang with and worship Jesus…I know she is continually appreciating every detail of the beauty of all that heaven offers….So, today brings a glad and sad feeling …I am, of course, very sad that she is no longer here to share life and the blessings of the cross church we started together, but that sadness gets easily overpowered by the joy of knowing that I will see her again, in her whole, healthy, and new body…I also can’t help but give God praise in how He seriously hooked me up for 22 years by gifting me such a woman of love, grace, faith, encouragement, class, joy, wit, charm, beauty, courage, humor, style, truth, creativity, selflessness and many other adjectives…not many get to have that kind of love so I am very grateful…one of the best parts about ash, besides her million $ smile that lit up catalogues and magazines all over the world, was that she was the real deal…she didn’t have a phony spiritual bone in her body and her walk with Jesus was a stellar example of pouring into others…She, of course, poured into me and I am who I am today because of Jesus and Ashleigh…photos of her, whether candid or fashion work, always exuded who she was…a follower of Jesus who was full of joy…Ash would always obey the Lord and never wavered from His path as she stayed walking straight ahead…she didn’t just talk it, she lived it out daily without fail in the fashion business which has caused many to compromise….I am grateful that we had a marriage with no regrets and that our love was truly a love story that was as deep as one can go….But Ashleigh was also a huge encourager, as many of you know. I know that she would want me to encourage both the single and the married. To the single person out there, please know that this type of real love can happen. Keep on the path with Jesus and keep believing His promises like our cross church verse..’now unto Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think…’Ephesians 3:20…To the married, I know that some of you out there may be struggling in your own marriage right now….I want to encourage all of you who are married, whether you are struggling or not, to think about and write down those incredible things that God put in your spouse just for you…some of those things may have caused you to grow, some may have caused you pain, while others only cause you to smile…either way, you are who you are in part due to that perfect fit provided by the creator…we can tend to forget those adjectives on the list when frustrations or worries of life hit us…but we need to remember that time is but a vapor and you need to make the most of the years you have left in your life and marriage…dont lose sight of what God did in those days leading up to and since your wedding day…reflect on it, share it with others and encourage your spouse with what is on your list….put aside any anger that you may feel for your spouse, put aside the frustration and for a moment reflect on how much that gift from God means to you….I would give anything to have a few more moments with Ash, but I don’t have that option…so please dont miss out on this moment….pray for one another and dont let the thief enter in to steal, kill and destroy what God has brought together…Thanks for taking time out to read this.‪#‎thankful‬ ‪#‎lovestory‬ ‪#‎topshelf‬ ‪#‎ashleigh‬‪#‎therealdeal‬ ‪#‎model‬ ‪#‎beautybothinsideandout‬
