Hurricane Dorian was devastating to The Bahamas. The images and videos that are circulating on the internet are heartbreaking. It is going to be a significant recovery effort. It is one that will take a long time.
The question is, how can we help?
First off, we must continue to pray. Pray for all of the Bahamian people, the first responders, and churches that are involved in the recovery. You can always pray at home, or you can join us tonight, Wednesday, Sept 25th at 7:14 pm, for a time in the word and then in prayer. We will meet in Classroom 30 at The Highland Oaks Middle School.
Let us gather together and pray for the people in the Bahamas, the recovery efforts, those still in the path of Hurricane Dorian, our church, our community, healings, God’s guidance, needs in our body, etc…
We are meeting at 7:14 pm because of the verse in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land”.
Secondly, you can donate supplies. A quick google search, and you will find that many places are taking hurricane relief supplies. We are formulating the best strategy to collect supplies and get them to the Bahamas into the hands of those in need. We will keep you posted on those details as we assess the logistics and best options. Until then, please take your supplies to one of the many places that are offering a drop off location. We have heard that Battery operated blow up mattresses are needed.
Thirdly, you can pray about being a part of a future team to help the recovery. We are assessing what is going on down there to see how best we could be used. This effort will be a long term outreach as some of the Islands were decimated. We would love to send supplies, but more importantly, we would love to send people to help; however, we can. We are looking to partner with a Church in Nassau that was not impacted by the hurricane. We will keep you posted as we finalize a plan that will be more long term than short as this will be a long recovery process.
Lastly, you can give towards this Hurricane relief by clicking below and choosing “Bahamas Hurricane relief”. All gifts go towards any supplies, efforts, or travels that are made to help the recovery process in the Bahamas.
We hope you will be able to join us , Wednesday, September 25th for our Proverbs and prayer night at 7:14pm at the HOMS, 2375 Ives dairy road.
You are welcomed to bring your kids, but unfortunately, childcare will not be provided.
