Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone. Colossians 4:5-6
Yesterday after service, our worship leader Ethan, his fiancee Jeanene, and I went to Chipotle for an awesome chipotle lunch! (no, I am not paid for my chipotle plug!). Actually the food was not the best part, if you can imagine that fellow chipotle lovers!! No, the best part was the Easter outreach that happened at the restaurant.
We had our door hangers and invite fliers in hand as we stood in the typically long, but always worth the wait, line at Chipotle (ok, i should be getting paid for this chipotle plug!). We decided to apply the message yesterday (yes, pastors need to apply it too!) and so we began conversations and handed out Easter fliers to those around us. What was cool was that people who were watching us give out the invites, looked like they wanted whatever we were handing out as well! Free stuff always attracts! So, Ethan would go up to tables of people and just hand them some invites telling them that there is a a very cool new church with good music and solid teaching in the area and we are having an Easter service on Sunday at 10:30am. Come check it out. Pretty simple and basis, but pretty much everyone we spoke to was really receptive and was happy we invited them. It was as if they were waiting for someone to lead them to what to do for Easter sunday. One girl sitting next to us whom Jeanene had started up a conversation with, said that she was praying about trying to find a new church in the area so this was a great answer to prayer for her. We had a blast inviting inside and carried the invites out into the parking lot and ended up inviting quite a few more people we met in the parking lot to our Easter service!
As our verse says,we need to live wise and make the most of the opportunities God gives us everyday. Gang, this week, is the week where you will have more opportunities than you realize. The attention is on Jesus this week and you may not think it from the outside appearance, but people are very interested in doing something for Easter. So, I pray that you would have the compassion and care that would lead to conversations and then you invite them to meet Jesus. He is the one who changed your life, right? You gotta share that story! This is a great time for anyone who does not know Him that well to find out just how much He loves them too! Pray and ask God to help you make the most of every opportunity that comes your way today and tomorrow and everyday!!
