Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. Psalm 118:1
Well, we have a TON of reasons to give thanks and of course having Hurricane Matthew pass by South Florida and our homes with no major problems is at the top of the list! One just has to look at the devastation in Haiti to know we have a lot to be thankful for!
In case you can’t think of things to be thankful for, I have provided you with top five Hurricane related reasons to give God thanks….
1-The kids are thankful for the ‘Hurricane Days’ off and you are thankful that the schools are reopening on Monday.
2- You got to carry and load our cars with enough bottled water to last a month plus we got a workout and a vast supply of bottled water in the process..
3- You got to meet new ‘friends’ as you waited in line for an hour to fill up your cars with gas and you have enough stored in red gas cans to begin your own neighborhood gas station.
4- You have enough propane to do BBQ’s for the next year
5- You have an endless supply of bags of chips, peanut butter and other canned foods that bring no nutritional benefit to our bodies..
Of course, we want to give God Praise that we are safe! I am sure all of you, like us, were praying for God’s mercy and that He provided our safety and now as in any loving relationship, we owe Him some thanks! We don’t want to be like a spoiled teenager who takes everything for granted and is forced to mutter thanks by mom and dad. No, we want thanksgiving to flow from our lips and the lessened impact of the hurricane gives us plenty of reasons.
Let’s not get caught up in conspiracy theories and blame the weather stations, the hurricane center or Home Depot for not getting the wind speed right…in this case, it was better that they were wrong then right….No, we need to give credit to the One who controls the wind…let’s give God thanks for His great mercy!
